Safety has to be the number one priority, as a parent Helena sends her own children into the buildings every day so she understands the parents' concerns on a personal level. She has supported all safety measures through policy and funding since she was first elected, including funding school security officers at all schools and implementing camera systems and added personnel. Helena is also one of the ambassadors for the "Is it good for the children" initiative to focus on mental health.
Education should always be child-centered and focus on preparing our students for the workforce, higher education, or the military. Graduation rates have increased steadily since Helena was first elected, with an all-time high this year.
Parents should always be in charge of raising their child and seen as a partner in the school system. Open communication and transparency are always the benchmarks. Helena has implemented numerous policies that instill this vision during her tenure, promoting volunteer activity and communication.
Tax dollars should always directly impact children in the classroom, through facilities, and by supporting our staff. Helena has supported all recruitment and retention initiatives, to ensure that the school district has the best staff to impact our kids.
